The 2020 Lead Right Scholarship

In association with DMV Youth Leadership Coalition, ACHIEVEMENT SQUARE Development & Training Centers, Inc, and Everyday Mentorship, LLC, The Lead Right Scholarship Fund was established to recognize, celebrate and affirm Authentic Leadership among underrepresented, low-income, first-generation, minority students in the Washington, DC/Metropolitan area.

We believe these students deserve to be seen and heard on college campuses.

Their experiences inform their decisions to improve themselves through the pursuit of post-secondary educational opportunities, ultimately resulting in displays of selfless and righteous leadership in their homes, schools and communities.

The Brickers Foundation is proud to be a sponsor and active contributor to this worthy cause.

Saint Joseph Parenting Center

Headquartered in Stamford, Connecticut, Saint Joseph Parenting Center works throughout all of Fairfield County, Connecticut to strengthen families that are at risk of child abuse and neglect, by providing parenting education and support.

We’re proud to be a corporate sponsor of Saint Joseph Parenting Center

We are pleased to have been a corporate sponsor this year for the 12th annual Saint Joseph Parenting Center’s (SJPC) breakfast held virtually on April 14. The breakfast is SJPC’s primary fundraiser towards their goal of ending the cycle of child abuse and neglect.

You can watch the entire breakfast video below.

This year’s event featured Joe Torre (yes – Joe Torre of the NY Yankees) and his wife Ali for a Q & A about their foundation, “Safe at Home,” whose mission is to develop educational programs that will end the cycle of domestic violence and save lives.

The missions of both SJPC and Joe Torre are aligned in preventing the cycle of abuse.

Headquartered in Stamford, Connecticut, SJPC works throughout all of Fairfield County. Their mission is to strengthen families that are at risk of child abuse and neglect, by providing parenting education and support. Many of the Center’s parents have been referred by Child Family Services, the judicial system, and public schools.  This year, the Center served 330 parents; next year it is expected to serve 350+ parents. Planning is underway to bring the Center to a second location by next year.

The Center’s mainstay program is its General Parenting Classes, a 28-week course that covers some 35 topics and meets weekly for one and a half hours. The classes are taught by volunteer instructors, each expert in their own field. Importantly, they are taught in both English and Spanish.

The Center also offers a unique 24/7 Dad’s program, born of the recognized need to help fathers with their parenting. The program has been awarded funding from the U.S. Dept. of Health and Housing over a five-year period.

In addition, the Center offers a women’s support group, childcare, case management, meals and basic necessities to its clients.

The Brickers Foundation is proud and excited to partner with Saint Joseph Parenting Center in helping them carry out their mission to end the cycle of child abuse and neglect.

Village Family

Village Family's vision is to improve the quality of life for all that come to them for help. Their mission is to make sure that no one that comes to them in need goes without assistance or goes to bed hungry.

We’re proud to support and be a partner of Village Family

We are excited to partner with Village Family of Norfolk, Virginia in helping them to provide food to their food-insecure community. Since 2014, Village Family has served its community with food, clothing, and personal and educational resources to fill the needs of underserved men, women and children.  Every fourth Sunday of the month, Village Family distributes necessities of food and clothing to an average of 300 individuals. Amidst Covid, the need spiked to an average of 500 individuals.

In the words of Executive Director, Natisha Wilson, “it still takes a village.”

Beyond their vision to improve the quality of life for all that come to them for help, Village Family’s mission is to make sure that no one that comes to them in need goes without assistance or goes to bed hungry.

In addition, their outreach programs target initiatives, which promote:

  • Education

  • Nutrition

  • Health

  • Employment Assistance

  • Housing

  • Low-income Assistance

  • Youth and Elderly services

  • Self-Sufficiency and Economic Development

We are pleased to support the important work of Village Family.
